Phillip prevailed upon his friendship of many years to get a saltwater fishing trip out of Avila Beach. 

 

With Jason Skarda, they launched a 14' aluminum boat with a crane from the pier and proceed to fish. Unfortunately, Phillip's intestines were not up to the strain of dealing with large swells for seconds on end and they were forced to return inside the harbor due to his sickness and cowardice.

 

They did however, catch a seagull which combined with seeing dead sea lions, served to liven up the day. A great time was had by neither.
